What we collect, and what happens to it
Everything about how SSAHS handles your information, in plain language. The short version: we collect what we need to house you, a credit check is optional rather than required, and nothing reaches a landlord until we are putting you forward for a specific home.
Your name and how to reach you. How many people would live in the home, and which size home you need. What your current housing situation is, and when you are looking to move. Anything you choose to write in the form, tell us in a conversation, or send by email, including whether someone referred you and who they were.
To work out whether a home fits your household, and which one. To contact you about your application, about a home that opens, or about the waitlist. And to understand how many people in Surrey are looking for housing like this, so we can show landlords and funders the demand that actually exists. When we talk about demand, we use numbers, not names.
A credit check is optional: share one if you have it and it can make sign-up quicker, decline it and your application is unaffected either way. What we never ask for at any stage is your income documents, your immigration status, your identification or your employer's details. If we need to understand your income later in the process, we work with what you can provide, including informal or cash income, and we explain what we need and why.
The SSAHS housing team, which is small. If we put you forward for a specific home, the landlord's leasing team, Warrington Residential at the Tether, sees what it needs to make that decision, and we tell you before it happens. We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to anyone else for marketing.
How long we keep it, and how to change that
If nothing is available, we keep your application on file so we can contact you when a home opens. If you are housed, your tenancy records belong to the landlord.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it: email housing@solidstate.coop and we will act on it.
